I’m Esther, the owner and photographer at Esther Chlad Photography. 

I was born and raised on the beautiful Isle of Lewis, where I currently reside. I’m so grateful to live in such a beautiful place, and to have had so much freedom when I was growing up. 

I took an interest in photography when I was about 13, when my dad gave me his old film camera to muck about with. I used it in the garden and on a couple of walks, whenever I went out with the dog. 

Taking the roll of film into the photo shop to be developed was always so exciting - seeing my photos in print and gluing them into my scrapbook was a Friday night highlight!

From there, I began to learn more about composition and lighting, and started to use dad’s DSLR. This was his pride and joy and was the camera I used when I launched my business back in 2020. 

Taking photos has been a big thing for me, as dad would always have the camera out, and would take photos of anything and everything! I picked up on this, but I wanted to take it further than just a “hobby”. 

My ethos has always been to capture memories to last a lifetime. This came from the lack of photos I have of my dad and I before he passed. The few photos I have brought such a sense of calm and ease in the months after his passing, and still do to this day. 

I strive to capture you and your loved ones in your truest form – so that one day you can look back on these photos and relive that moment over and over, whenever you need to.
